Embedded Linux Engineer – Communications Technology Hertfordshire (Hybrid)

 Salary: £50,000–£70,000 + Bonus + Benefits

🚀 What You’ll Be Doing

  • Architecting and developing embedded Linux solutions for custom hardware platforms

  • Building and configuring Yocto-based Linux distributions

  • Integrating device drivers, kernel modules, and middleware for real-time applications

  • Collaborating with hardware, software, and systems teams to deliver robust, scalable solutions

  •  Optimising performance, security, and reliability across embedded platforms

  • Supporting product lifecycle from concept through to deployment and maintenance


🧠 What You’ll Bring

  • Strong experience in embedded Linux development (Yocto, Buildroot, or similar)

  • Proficiency in C/C++ and shell scripting

  • Familiarity with kernel-level debugging, bootloaders (U-Boot), and device trees

  • Understanding of networking protocols and secure communications

  • Experience with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and cross-compilation toolchains

  • Bonus: exposure to ARM-based architectures, FPGA integration, or cyber-secure systems
